Connecting through food

BRIDGES NEPALI CUISINE

This is a picture that was taken November 1, 2015. This was just a food tent that we had in Findlay Market out in the open, serving the people and trying to experiment with our food. It is my dad in the middle. And my mom, and that's me on the right side. Behind this photo, even if we're smiling, we had a lot of huge challenges.

I was a nurse before, and I was helping people. But we realized that with food, we can help more people and serve more people. We talked to my mom, she is a really good entrepreneur. She also started businesses before in Nepal, so we collected all our experiences. This picture really represents the peace that we received.

We knew our concept was to connect our food to you guys because there's so many people who don't know about Nepal. And one day we were just driving on a bridge just brainstorming and my mom, out of the blue, she just said, "What about Bridges?" and that word was just so simple and such a great name that would represent us with our slogan: connecting through food. That's what we want to do—connect our food, connect our culture and connect our hospitality with the people here.

Right now, after like, almost nine years, looking at this picture, I feel very proud. And I feel really, really good that we took the chance and we took the risk and gathered all our courage and energy to open our business.
