From the interview:
“I’m the CEO and President of the Cleaster Mims College Prep School in Roselawn. My connection to Roselawn is that I have been in Roselawn since 1992. During that time I operated a preschool through the 8th grade there. It is of course on a nice cul-de-sac and three acres of land, and great neighbors in the neighborhood. We were able to function there for 20 years. I think that is an asset for Roselawn—a historical asset if we can work through it and I’m confident that we will. It will bring people in to Roselawn from around the country if not around the world to visit the Cleaster Mims Archive and Institute.”
NOTE: Dr. Cleaster Mims was the first African American woman to graduate from Xavier University in Cincinnati as well the first Black woman to serve as a full-time professor there. After teaching in Cincinnati Public Schools for 30 years, she launched the nation’s first Marva Collins Preparatory School, now the Cleaster Mims College Prep School.
