The West End

Rosa Craig

My mom Shirley Colbert, she likes to be known as Shirley white. Colbert has been a community activist for many, many years. She's 85 now. She fought for us to get a laundromat put in. She fought for us for practically every day. She'd go to court with you, she introduced you to Legal Aid, show you how you can get legal counsel. the most recent things she just did, which was her final job was to put the Laurel homes building just on Liberty Street. That's left of the law homes on the National Historic registry. She loved the people. She didn't she wanted everybody to have equal housing, regardless of your income. It made me a better person. Because I find myself now watching out for kids. You know, trying to help people.
