MIDDIE PRIDE
service to community
Dwan W. Johnson
ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPH:
I grew up in Middletown and went to Middletown High School. I’m a 1982 graduate. The Elk organization is something that I've been part of for 20 plus years, and I’m very proud to say that I’m a member. It represents just a lot of years of dedication, a lot of community service throughout the community.
This photo is where I received an award on November 16, 2024. It was an award for being a deputy in Ohio, but I was one of three deputies who were recognized during the national district deputies conference in North Carolina, which is the headquarters of our Elks organization. Dana, he's an elder. Dana B Johnson traveled from Augusta, Georgia to read my bio. I'm holding a plaque that's saying thank you for your service, your commitment to the national Elks’ organization. And then it’s just the Brotherhood, the members around taking a photo.
I just love Middletown. The community seems to come together on different issues and strive to make it a better community. It's always been home. I know I have left and went on to grad school in Louisiana;I worked in different cities. I'm retired from the state of Ohio, and I'm just glad to be back in Middletown and will continue to serve.
