EPISODE 17

Dee McCall: A Global Family

Interview and story by Josy Jones of The Devil Strip in Akron.

Dee McCall values family, community and connection, whether she is doing volunteer work in Akron or serving her country overseas. The National Guard veteran and University of Akron student brings a world of experience to her description of a photo from her childhood. In it, she joins her sister, cousins and grandmother on the stoop of her grandmother's house, where she first learned what it meant to show up for community. Since then, McCall's definition of family and the importance of connection expanded, as has her understanding of service and the importance of holding elected officials to account.
