EPISODE 16

Shakila Ahmad: Living Legacies

Interview and story by Lucy May, WCPO.com.

Shakila Ahmad values education and family. Best known in Southwest Ohio for her leadership with the Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati, she was the first woman to serve as president and board chair. She’s also the first-born daughter of a first-born daughter who has had generations of strong women in her family as role models. The photo she chose to describe for Ohio Values includes five generations in her family in traditional religious dress at the beginning of what she little suspected would become a particularly challenging year.
