ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPH:

“This is a picture of me and my daughter Joy, and my neighbor, Michelle. It was at the trunk or treat for our neighborhood. Michelle was one of the first people who I talked to about opening a childcare business. She's my neighbor, and she taught me a lot. I haven't known her that long, but she helped me to feel welcome as a childcare provider in this neighborhood. I think it shows people power because a lot of people came out that day to do trunk or treat—a lot of people who are from the neighborhood, but also people from all over the city came so that our kids could run around the park and get candy. It was just a really nice day. It was beautiful weather and it was a lot of kids running around and having fun together.”
