ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPH:

“It was one of my fun days. I retired and everybody said, ‘Karen, you got to keep moving, keep moving.’ So I'd be going out in the evenings and having my own fun. It was my best friend's birthday party, and everybody would be dressed up, and I feel like I don't have no clothes to wear. So I just dressed up in these Army fatigues and I thought it would be cute.”
